Description & Condition
Description
This is a Leica I Model C in the non-standard version, from 1930, the first Leica with interchangeable lenses; non-standard bodies left the factory with lenses individually matched to that body, marked with the last three digits of the body number. This example was later returned to the factory and converted to the standard lens mount. It comes with its matched Elmar 50mm f/3.5 and shows the wear expected of a camera of this age.
Please note
- The lens mount was converted by the factory from the original non-standard mount to the standard mount; it is not in its original as-delivered state.
- The set was originally supplied with three matched lenses; only the Elmar 50mm f/3.5 is included. The matched Elmar 35mm f/3.5 and Hektor 135mm f/4.5 are not part of this set.
- The engraved number on the Elmar matches the last three digits of the body number.

Shipping and import duties — please read before ordering
Zerka Studio has offices in China, Japan and the United States, and our inventory is shared between them; most items ship from China or Japan. This item was made in Germany. When an item ships from outside the US, US Customs charges import duty based on the country where it was made. For cameras made in Germany the duty is currently about 10% of the item's value. Import duties and taxes are not included in our price and are not collected at checkout: if they apply, the courier will ask you to pay them, together with its customs clearance fee, before or at delivery. Rates are set by US Customs and may change. If you are not sure where this item will ship from, please contact us before ordering and we will confirm. If a shipment is refused because the duties were not paid, the duties, the shipping costs and a 15% restocking fee will be deducted from your refund.
How we grade condition
Every item is inspected and tested by our technician before it ships, and the photos show the actual item. Each listing has its own Condition Report; the grade sums it up:
- Unused — never used; the packaging may have been opened for inspection.
- Like New (98–99%) — no visible signs of use, or only the faintest marks.
- Excellent (95%) — light signs of use, with no dents or notable marks.
- Very Good (90%) — visible light wear, such as small scratches or rubbing.
- Good (85–89%) — clear signs of use, such as scratches, paint wear or brassing.
- Fair (80% or below) — heavy wear.
- For parts or repair — not fully working.
Anything that affects use or value, such as marks on the glass, repairs, a repaint or a deliberately brassed finish, is listed under Please note on the item page.
